Gabor Szabó was born in Budapest and began playing guitar at the age of 14, inspired by jazz music on the Voice of America broadcasts.
Gabor Szabó's work includes labels such as Impulse! Records, Skye Records and Mercury as well as the CTI label in which he worked on albums such as Macho in 1975 with Bob James, who he knew back at Berklee School of Music in Boston which he attended in '56.
During a visit to his homeland Budapest in 1982 the Jazz Guitarist died from liver and kidney disease.
